TL;DR
- Six real SAP test automation tools compared on what actually matters: which SAP interfaces they cover, what runs underneath them, and whether a manual tester can use them without writing code.
- Sahi Pro covers SAP GUI, Fiori, and the surrounding web, desktop, mobile, and API layer in one script, on a proprietary engine, with a no-code option and a full JavaScript API for technical users.
- Tricentis Tosca holds the deepest formal SAP relationship of the group (SAP Solution Extension status), but it comes with enterprise pricing and an optional certification ladder.
- Worksoft Certify and OpenText UFT One both connect natively into SAP Solution Manager. Worksoft is codeless. UFT One is scripted in VBScript only.
- Leapwork and Ranorex both reach into SAP GUI and Fiori from a general-purpose automation platform rather than a SAP-first one, which is worth knowing before you commit.
- We could not verify a SAP-specific case study for every tool here, including our own, so every claim below is either sourced from a vendor’s own SAP documentation or marked as unverified. We did not include Panaya, Aqua Cloud, TestSigma, or TestingXperts. The first three describe themselves as test-management or change-impact platforms rather than execution engines, and the fourth is a testing services firm, not a tool.
If your team is choosing between SAP test automation tools in 2026, the honest answer is that most of them solve one piece of the SAP testing problem well and leave the rest to you. A tool built for SAP GUI often struggles with Fiori’s dynamic elements. A tool built for the web often has no answer for the Java-based desktop clients that still run core SAP workflows in finance and supply chain. This guide compares six tools on what they actually cover, what runs underneath them, and who each one fits, so you can pick based on your SAP landscape instead of a vendor’s homepage.
Quick-pick: 6 SAP test automation tools at a glance
| Tool | Best for | SAP interface coverage | Architecture | Deployment |
| Sahi Pro | Single flow across SAP GUI, Fiori, and everything connected to it | SAP GUI, Fiori/UI5, web, desktop, mobile, API in one script | Proprietary, not Selenium/Appium-based | On-premise and cloud |
| Tricentis Tosca | Enterprise teams that want the deepest formal SAP partnership | SAP GUI, S/4HANA, Fiori/UI5, BW/HANA | Proprietary, model-based | On-premise and cloud |
| Worksoft Certify | Codeless automation with native Solution Manager integration | SAP GUI, S/4HANA, C/4HANA, Fiori | Proprietary, capture-and-replay | On-premise and cloud |
| OpenText UFT One | Teams with an existing UFT investment and SAP GUI-heavy workflows | SAP GUI, certified Solution Manager Test Suite integration | Proprietary, VBScript-only | On-premise and cloud |
| Leapwork | No-code teams who need SAP alongside non-SAP systems | SAP GUI (via SAP GUI Scripting), S/4HANA, ECC | Proprietary, application-agnostic | On-premise and cloud |
| Ranorex Studio | Teams whose SAP workflows extend into desktop, web, and custom apps | SAP GUI, Fiori, web-based SAP portals | Proprietary core, optional Selenium interoperability | On-premise only |
1. Sahi Pro: best for single-flow automation across SAP GUI, Fiori, and everything around it
Most SAP landscapes are not just SAP. A single business process usually starts in SAP GUI or Fiori, hands off to a web portal, and finishes in a connected mobile app or an API call. Sahi Pro runs that entire flow as one script, carrying session state and data across every step, instead of stitching together separate tools for each layer.
What it does well. Sahi Pro identifies elements by relationship and context instead of fragile DOM positions or screen coordinates, so tests stay stable when SAP interfaces change. Manual testers can build and run flows through a no-code visual authoring interface, and teams report being productive within two weeks with no certification required. Technical testers who want more control have a full JavaScript API available on the same product. The engine is built from scratch, not a wrapper around Selenium or Appium, which is what lets it reach into SAP GUI’s Java-based rich client where browser-only tools cannot go.
Where it fits less well. Sahi Pro is a newer name in SAP-specific search results than Tricentis or Worksoft, so teams evaluating vendors purely by market presence will need to look past brand recognition to the architecture underneath.
Deployment: on-premise and cloud. Pricing: available on request, with a free trial.
2. Tricentis Tosca: best for the deepest formal SAP partnership
Tricentis holds SAP Solution Extension status, which the company describes as an invitation-only tier and the highest level of partnership SAP extends to a testing vendor. Tosca is built into SAP’s own Transformation Management toolchain, and its LiveCompare module tells teams which tests to re-run after an SAP change, rather than re-running everything.
What it does well. Tosca’s model-based approach separates an application’s technical details, logic, and data, which gives it broad coverage across SAP GUI, S/4HANA, Fiori/UI5, and BW/HANA. Reviewers confirm strong automation support across SAP environments.
Where it fits less well. Reviewers on TrustRadius describe Fiori’s dynamic elements as troublesome, pushing teams toward Tosca’s Vision AI module, which some of the same reviewers call powerful but not always stable. Licensing is enterprise quote-only, and multiple reviewers describe the cost as high for smaller organizations. Tosca also has an optional certification ladder (AS1 through Architect level) that many hiring managers screen for, which adds a training cost most no-code tools do not carry.
Deployment: on-premise and cloud. Pricing: enterprise quote-only, no public price list.
3. Worksoft Certify: best for codeless automation with native Solution Manager integration
Worksoft publishes a full integration guide for connecting Certify directly to SAP Solution Manager, and its own SAP pages claim native support across SAP GUI, S/4HANA, C/4HANA, and Fiori.
What it does well. Certify is fully codeless. It uses a central object repository built on stable technical properties and reusable process units for common SAP steps like login and data entry, which lowers the bar for manual testers building their own flows.
Where it fits less well. We could not verify a formal SAP certification tier for Worksoft comparable to Tricentis’s Solution Extension status, only a documented technical integration. Reviewers note that object identification can struggle with dynamic Fiori elements and that captured objects occasionally click the wrong element on a later run when page elements look similar. Debugging complex processes is also described as less intuitive than in script-based tools.
Deployment: on-premise and cloud. Pricing: quote-only, no published price list.
4. OpenText UFT One: best for teams with an existing UFT investment
OpenText’s own SAP datasheet states UFT One has SAP-certified integration into SAP Solution Manager Test Suite, along with AI-based object detection for SAP GUI. This is the clearest SAP certification language we found for any tool besides Tricentis.
What it does well. For teams already standardized on UFT (formerly HP QuickTest Professional), UFT One extends that investment into SAP GUI testing with a certified Solution Manager connection.
Where it fits less well. Scripting is limited to VBScript, which reviewers describe as restricting developer flexibility compared to more modern languages. Reviewers on PeerSpot also report stability issues from high memory consumption during regression runs, particularly on virtual servers, along with slow escalation paths for technical support. We could not confirm Fiori or S/4HANA-specific support in OpenText’s own documentation, only SAP GUI and the Solution Manager integration, so treat broader SAP coverage as likely but unconfirmed.
Deployment: on-premise and cloud. Pricing: quote-only, no published price list or free trial.
5. Leapwork: best for no-code teams running SAP alongside non-SAP systems
Leapwork is listed as an official SAP partner on sap.com, and its support documentation includes a guide to enabling SAP GUI Scripting, which is the mechanism it most likely uses to reach SAP GUI.
What it does well. Leapwork’s no-code, flow-based builder extends across SAP and non-SAP systems from the same platform, which suits teams whose test coverage spans well beyond SAP. A free trial is available, and on-premise deployment is supported.
Where it fits less well. Leapwork markets itself as application-agnostic rather than SAP-specialized, so its depth on SAP-specific scenarios like BOM management or complex Fiori workflows is less established in public documentation than a SAP-first tool. We could not confirm the execution engine’s underlying architecture from public sources.
Deployment: on-premise and cloud. Pricing: quote-only, with a free trial.
6. Ranorex Studio: best for SAP workflows that extend into desktop and custom apps
Ranorex describes itself as offering all-in-one SAP test coverage across SAP GUI, Fiori apps, and web-based SAP portals from a single platform.
What it does well. Ranorex’s cross-technology reach (desktop, web, and mobile from one tool) suits teams whose SAP processes touch custom Windows applications alongside SAP itself. Pricing is public and perpetual-license based, which is rare in this list: a node-locked license runs $2,990 per installation, a floating license runs $4,990 per concurrent user, and an additional runtime endpoint runs $890, each including 12 months of maintenance.
Where it fits less well. We found no formal SAP partner or certification status for Ranorex, unlike Tricentis or Leapwork. Deployment is on-premise only. One third-party comparison also notes that SAP GUI scripting must be manually enabled as a setup prerequisite.
Deployment: on-premise only. Pricing: publicly listed, from $890 per additional endpoint.
How we evaluated these six tools
We looked at four things for every tool: documented SAP interface coverage (GUI, Fiori, S/4HANA, ECC) in the vendor’s own materials, whether the company holds a named SAP certification or partner status we could verify, the automation architecture underneath the product, and whether a manual tester can build a test without writing code. We excluded Panaya, Aqua Cloud, and TestSigma because their own public materials describe them as test-management, change-impact, or test-case platforms rather than execution engines for SAP interfaces, and we excluded TestingXperts because it is a testing services consultancy, not a software tool. Every specific claim above is sourced from a vendor’s own SAP documentation, a partner directory listing, or a named review platform (TrustRadius, PeerSpot), and anything we could not verify is marked as unverified rather than assumed.
How to choose the right SAP test automation tool for your team
A QA manager leading a team of largely manual testers needs a no-code path first. That points to Sahi Pro, Worksoft, or Leapwork, since all three let testers build flows visually rather than write scripts.
A DevOps or QA lead who inherited a Selenium or Appium framework that has become unsustainable needs an architecture question answered before anything else: does the tool run natively against SAP GUI’s Java client, or does it stop at the browser. Sahi Pro, Tricentis, Worksoft, and UFT One all run natively against SAP GUI. Ranorex reaches SAP GUI through its own engine with optional Selenium interoperability. Leapwork reaches it through SAP GUI Scripting.
An IT director or VP Engineering evaluating total cost of ownership and compliance needs pricing transparency and on-premise deployment for regulated environments. Ranorex is the only tool here with public list pricing. Sahi Pro, Tricentis, Worksoft, UFT One, and Leapwork all support on-premise deployment but require a sales conversation for pricing.
A note on verified outcomes. Sahi Pro customers report a 90% reduction in regression man-hours and an 80% reduction in test maintenance compared to conventional tools. These are company-wide figures across Sahi Pro’s 1,000-plus enterprise customers, not a SAP-specific case study, and we are stating them as such rather than implying a customer story we have not confirmed for this vertical.
